The site overlooks the Patra gulf. On the skyline you can see the Aitoloakarnania Mountains over the Rio-Antirio channel. The building includes a ground floor residence, a loft (office-guestroom) and a garage on the ground floor. The main idea is the design of a house that makes the most of the view towards the mountains of the “Panahaikon” in the East, and towards the sea and the bay of Rio in the West.
Eco-architecture: The shell is oriented to the North-South axis, sheltering and closing the North façade, while the south opens by a group of sheltered spaces which look towards the sun and the sunset on the sea of Rio. The frame construction of the building is made of steel columns with slabs of reinforced concrete, thus achieving large opening with a light construction. A metallic construction supports a wooden deck which extends the space of the sheltered balcony, creating the right protection for the open garage in the basement. A smaller atrium between the bedrooms maximizes the view towards the mountain.
