ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN: 2009-CONSTRUCTION: 2010
The project includes the designing of a two-storey wooden residence in o plot area between two roads, in an urban area near mountain “Parnitha”, with East-West orientation.
The proposing solution places the building I the North party wall, in order to create a yard, open to the South, which serves as a place of “relief”.
The open space of residence is detached and unites with the lane next to the road.
The eastern and western side have very small openings, to cope with the adverse weather conditions during the winter and the worm vertical sunbeams of the summer sun.
The building is oriented to the South, with large openings for exploiting the winter sunlight. In the summer, the building is protected by semi-open air spaces, canopies and blinds. The large balcony in the bedrooms of the first floor, also serves as a shelter of the large openings of the ground floor, while part of the roof rises south and protects the floor. In the center of the building the roof rises again and creates an internal loft.
